TIP - Merits & Outcomes
Given an ideal environment Total Immersion Plus (TIP) conversational language acquisition, can be accomplished by an adult, with ease in 200 hours; less if they come from a Gaelic speaking home or background.
Then again, any pre-school aged child coming from a similar Gaelic background can also reach a conversational fluency with ease in some 400 hours in a conducive pre-school group environment.
All students/tutors embracing TIP learning happily avoid the customary early stress engendered by the prospect of embarking on reading, writing, grammar and translation; so often detrimentally found in traditional language learning methods.
TIP acquisition strategies ensure that all students are in the most stress free, user-friendly and enjoyable environment possible. Indeed, the whole ethos of TIP is that its fun, if this is not the case, then a tutor would do well to seek out what is going wrong on their course.
Language acquisition by way of TIP is far less intimidating and ultimately, much more successful, for it is based on teamwork, rather than the usual competitive scenario, of one person becoming the shining example of how it should be done.
Should students on a TIP centred course require formal recognition and certification on completion of their course, then TIP will find no problem with such procedures.
The true success of a Gaelic TIP course becomes strikingly evident when ones hears students speaking conversational Gaelic naturally and spontaneously, albeit in the home, workplace, community centre or immersed on a cultural activity, or in fact, anywhere.
